Exhaust Bungs & Weld-In Fittings for BMW, Audi & VW

Exhaust bungs are the threaded weld-in fittings used to mount oxygen sensors, wideband sensors, EGT probes, and boost references into exhaust pipes. If you're building a custom exhaust, deleting cats, or adding a wideband AFR sensor for tuning, you need the right bung welded in at the right location.

O2 Sensor Bungs

M18x1.5 is the standard thread for all BMW, Audi, and VW oxygen sensors. Weld the bung in before threading in the sensor — never thread directly into mild steel. Stainless bungs resist the heat and vibration that destroy mild steel fittings over time.

Wideband Sensor Bungs

Same M18x1.5 thread works for Innovate, PLX, and AEM wideband lambda sensors. Placement matters: 18–24 inches downstream of the last cylinder collector for accurate readings on inline engines.

EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) Probe Bungs

1/8" NPT weld bungs for K-type thermocouple probes. Used on turbo builds to monitor turbine inlet temperature. Place as close to the turbine inlet as safely accessible.

Boost Reference Ports

1/8" NPT weld bungs for boost gauge and MAP sensor reference lines. Typically welded into the charge pipe post-intercooler.
