Why South Bend Clutch?
South Bend Clutch (SBC) is one of the most respected names in performance clutch upgrades for European cars. Made in the USA with Kevlar, carbon, and ceramic friction materials, SBC kits are a direct upgrade over OEM clutches for stock or modified BMWs and Audis — more grip, longer life, and better feel under performance driving conditions.
Choosing the Right Stage
Stage 1 (Street) — Organic Disc
Best for: stock to lightly modified cars (up to ~350 ft-lb torque). Feels closest to OEM. Ideal for daily drivers who want better durability and slightly improved performance without changing pedal feel.
Stage 2 (Street/Track) — Organic HD Disc
Best for: moderately tuned cars with 300–450 ft-lb torque. Noticeably heavier pedal feel but excellent engagement. Popular for B8/B9 S4 and S5 owners running a tune.
Stage 3 (Track) — Kevlar Disc
Best for: 400–550 ft-lb torque. Track-oriented, aggressive engagement, not recommended as a pure daily. Used by E46 M3 track car owners and highly modified 2JZ swaps running S52 or S65 bellhousings.

Audi Fitments

Installation Overview
Clutch replacement requires transmission removal. On the E46 M3 and F30/F80 platforms, plan for 8–12 hours DIY. Take the opportunity to replace the flywheel (lightweight Fidanza flywheel pairs well with SBC), pilot bearing, and throwout bearing if they haven't been recently replaced.
Pro tip: SBC includes an alignment tool. Use it. A misaligned disc causes vibration at startup and accelerated wear.
