The Most Overlooked Brake Upgrade
Everyone talks about pads and rotors. Almost nobody talks about brake lines — and that's a mistake. Your brake lines are the hydraulic link between your pedal and your calipers, and the stock rubber hoses that come on most BMW, Audi, and Porsche models have one critical weakness: they expand under pressure.
Why Rubber Lines Are the Problem
Under hard braking, brake fluid pressure spikes dramatically — 500 to 1,500+ PSI. OEM rubber brake hoses flex and balloon slightly under this pressure. That flex absorbs pedal input energy instead of transmitting it directly to the caliper. The result: a spongy pedal feel, inconsistent bite, and delayed response at the limit.
What Goodridge Stainless Lines Fix
Goodridge braided stainless lines use a PTFE inner liner wrapped in stainless steel braid. The steel braid doesn't expand under pressure — pressure transmits directly and immediately to the caliper. The result is:
- Firmer pedal feel — immediately noticeable after bleeding

- Better heat resistance — PTFE handles brake fluid temperatures far better than rubber

Installation
Brake line replacement requires bleeding the entire system. Plan 1.5–2 hours DIY with a pressure bleeder. Always torque banjo bolts to spec (typically 11–14 ft-lb). Bleed with fresh DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 fluid.
